MTL will be out in full force this coming August Long Weekend. Slo-Pitch Shep will be making his way into B.C. for the Molson’s Glacier Challenge in Revelstoke! So if you are heading to Revy let him know on his facebook profile. Also Brendan and I will be heading up to Edson Alberta for the Kinsman Slo-Pitch tournament. It sounds like there will be a lot of teams there again this year so please look for us. We are hoping to have a booth set up near the beer gardens and will be out at the diamonds as much as possible too! Again please let me know (via facebok/email) if you are going to the tournament in Edson and we will come by and say hello!

Hey Slo-Pitch Pundits

July 9-11th I decided to forgo the 1st weekend of the Calgary Stampede and hit a hidden gem of a Tournament out in Swift Current Sask.  Jaime LeBlanc of the S.C DAWGS is the main organizer of this Tourney and we at MTL had received an E-Mail to come out and check this weekend of Ball out and Slo-Pitch Shep was only too happy to oblige. Although they had a few minute cancellations (hey, who doesn’t) it was still some great fun and probably the best priced beverages and food I’ve seen so far! Their freshly BBQ’d burgers are HUGE and tasty, and they couldn’t cook them fast enough. RIDER PRIDE was evident everywhere, although there were some Alberta teams in attendance. Saturday’s Games  were started a little early to make sure everyone could be in place for the Rider game that they put a 46″ Flat Screen up in the Beer Gardens to Cheer on their team to victory. Once again Austin Powers showed up to create some fun, mayhem and heighten awareness of our GREAT winter Tropical tournaments, this time sporting a Green tinsel Rider wig and delivering green & white leis to the female thrill seekers.

A Hearty “Hey Dude” goes out to Lucas ( Weak Bladder) Gartner & Kurtis Bakanec of  the “Louie D’s” & Brad Giesbrecht  of the “Contractors” both out of Swift Current. Both these teams were stoked about Mexico and Cuba and Ben Fensom of “Team OFF” (S.C.) and Bryan Gustafson of “Each Hit” are shooting for a trip soon to either Jamaica or the Dominican.

It was nice to see the “Nailers” out of  Regina again, having met them in Cranbrook back in June, and once again there are some fun pics from the weekend on our Face Book Group, and a the whole enchilada of pics on Slo-Pitch Shep’s FB Profile. It was nice to meet teams from Rosetown, Maple Creek and Moose Jaw too.

Well Folks, the Summer is just rolling along and as I prepare to hit another big fun-filled Tournament, I thought I would share a little about my first stop on my 2010 slo-pitch journey > June 18-20th I attended the Sam Steele Tournament in Cranbrook B.C> and met some GREAT people and saw some AWESOME Ball! First off I’d like to put a shout out to Bill Battensby of the “Hackers”, Natalie Mehew of the “Lethbridge Giants”, & Curtis from the “”Riders” out of  Fort Mac who has attended 4 Slo-Pitch Holidays in the past and says “See you soon Marco!”

Austin Powers lent his Mojo to MTL on Saturday sharing jokes, Pop Rocks and MTL brochures with the teams both in the Beer Gardens and in the stands. Priscilla Penner of the “Penner’s Plumbing” team out of Cranbrook, was so turned on by Austin’s Antics and the sense of fun that Slo-Pitch Holidays by MTL brings to any tournamnet, that she signed her team up for CUBA this year and had her team’s Tournament Fee waived for sending in a deposit within 2 weeks of seeing us in Cranbrook!!  She said “Austin better be there, he owes me a marshmellow shooter”. Her husband’s brother owns Penner Electric and they too have a team…. they have a great rivalry so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the two teams competing in CUBA this year….Ahhhh Siblings!   BTW, Kelly Fast out of  Cranbrook is offering up her umpire expertise for any of our tropical tournaments..hint,hint Marco… LOL

Howdy Folks!

Hope your ball season is shaping up nicely, our Slo-Pitch Holiday Magnate – Marco, just got back from the Funtastic Tournament in Vernon, B.C., where he said it was great running into old friends and making some new ones, seems there was quite a bit of interest in our Los Cabos and Cuba Tournaments – More teams = More Fun!!

I’m heading off to the balmy flatlands of Saskatchewan this weekend to attend the Swift Current Co-Ed Open Tournament and introduce MTL to a slew of new teams and players. I’ll be bringing some cool swag, some prizes and of course FUN and Slo-Pitch Holiday Info! Look for the guy in the Shiny Vest or for Austin Powers who is planning on working “undercovers”in the Beer Garden. Rumor has it he has some great $ incentives to teams who sign up for a slo-pitch holiday at this tournament, so tell your Saskatchewan friends to look for him at the festivities ANNNND don’t forget to visit www.slo-pitch.net and look at the tournament updates on our BLOG page

My name is Mike Shepherd – but everyone just calls me SHEP, I’m a full time Entertainment Specialist ( Actor/Voice Artist/Celebrity Impersonator) & I have been working with MTL for 3 years as an Entertainment Co-ordinator. I have done two slo-pitch holidays in the Dominican Republic, one in Cuba and this past March I was in Mazatlan. I put together the different Theme nights you get to enjoy after a day of fun slo-pitch, or upon your return from an AWESOME Day Tour. Past Theme nights have included – Hoser Nights, Redneck Nights, Outlaw Nights and I’m constantly looking for new games and Themes with which to entertain you on your exotic slo-pitch holiday.

We will let you know before hand what kind of Theme nights will be taking place, so you can bring the appropriate costuming. BUT I’m not just your purveyor of evening entertainment, NO, I’m also there for you during the day to have some fun by the pool or beach and to answer any questions you have about the Resort, the Day’s upcoming activities, etc. I’m there to help make your slo-pitch tropical holiday as much fun as possible!

Last Fall, my duties with MTL expanded into that of Program Co-ordinator as well. I’m now travelling out to various slo-pitch tournaments through out Western Canada, such as Edson, Cranbrook and the World Co-Ed series in Calgary, to promote “Slo-Pitch Holidays by MTL”, play some fun games and giving away some prizes to the Ball Players. Just showing folks a taste of the fun we have on our tropical excursions. I’m there to answer any questions you may have and raise awareness about our Dead of Winter fun filled slo-pitch getaways.
